Perhaps the desire to be fit and healthy has become so popular because of the rise in weight problems. This may be because we are bombarded with images of men and women who are attractive and obviously very fit, that make us feel a little inadequate. This desire is being catered for with an increase in ever type of health and fitness club imaginable and the sales of home fitness equipment is on the rise.
We are all be urged to become more responsible about our fitness generally so it is no surprise that there has been an increase in the amount of interest shown. The way we eat and the types of food we consume also play a major role in our overall health and fitness so the two should really be emphasized as a joint effort.
Our diet and our fitness are two halves of the same coin and need to be worked together as it is the food we consume that will determine how quickly we can repair cells and tired parts of our body. The two opposing views on this subject just confuse the issue with the high-carb and high-fat groups both saying their method is best.
What makes this confusing for the amateur is that one side says that you are better of eating foods high in fat when you exercise and the others state you need to eat foods that are a good source of carbohydrates. The high-carb enthusiasts say that we need these sorts of foods because the glucose (or energy) is stored in the muscles and liver in the form of glycogen which is great for short burst of energy or any type of anaerobic exercise.
Fat rich food is also known to be calorie rich which two and a half times the calorific content of carbohydrates and protein plus it is actually quicker to break down in the body ready for use. The problem is deciding on which diet to follow but there is at least one thing experts agree on and that is you cannot follow both at the same time without gaining weight.
The main factor to consider is that if you are just following a diet and fitness lifestyle then the last thing you want is too add extra pounds of unwanted fat. Just to add another factor to the mix; the success of a diet program relies on it being devised for the person it relates to so factors like their medical history, tastes in foods and lifestyle must be taken into account.
Just losing weight is not the issue as many overweight individuals manage to do this but if the diet doesn't suit them they pile it all back on, so the trick is to organize a diet that exactly fits your needs and maintain a moderation to what you eat. Although it still means that that essential nutrients and proteins for example that keep the body and mind healthy should be part of that diet; amounts of which are broadly publicized by health organizations.
The question is not which diet program will work but which one will work for you because striving for a sexy and healthy body does not have to burden an individual just as diet and fitness do not have to mean sticking to the same kinds of food for life. |
