In the past, one of the traditional ways of bringing two individuals together was through a hook up. This kind of thing involved introducing them to someone you knew or knew of. This method was not foolproof and there were a number of cases where the end set in rather quickly so professional services seemed a better way to go. These companies provide what we call dating services.
Among the different types of services the most common is the online dating service where you register, create a public profile and read about other members as potential dates. These may also involve exchanges of messages or emails, and a few days or weeks to wait. One word of advice though: you have to realize that it could be dangerous in the virtual world so be careful. Often people could seem honest and one hopes after knowing the person, that when sensitive data is given it is not put to unscrupulous use.
Telephone dating service is another popular service especially with the wide spread use of the mobile phones, its use has grown dramatically. Telephone dating services are convenient and often comparatively cheaper to high priced internet services. Phone services can even be free. The only thing that you are going to have to pay for is the standard rate for each text message. A phone, especially a mobile phone is so much easier to access anywhere, as you can carry it around and check messages regularly.
Video service is another type of dating service and this type of service is widely advertised in TV. In this case the user needs to go to the service provider and make a personal ad which is a video. You can project yourself depending on your preference. This video is viewed by other clients, and when interested, they would contact the service provider to make contact.
Speed dating is another type of dating. Here groups of men and women meet each other for a fixed duration and try to figure out whether there is anyone in the group they like. After the meeting and the interaction is over, everyone is given a form to be filled out specifying whom they like the most. Then, the ones who connected are brought together and then the rest is up to them.
Dating service companies are found in the yellow pages, online or on their ads on TV. The internet scores as the best because of its wider reach. But it is this wider reach that has exposed it to scamsters and money makers. Beware of sites who ask for money.
The bottom line is these services will continue to change the dating scene radically. Over the years, the majority of people have avoided asking someone for professional help to meet their future partners, but these days, this is no longer the case. As life moves into an even faster line, dating services will only grow in order to serve the needs of people with no time to meet people of the opposite sex for companionship. |
